Telephone Service
The Department of Network and Telecommunication Services provides each resident with a private telephone line, voice mail, 3-way calling, and call transfer features.

The telephone service provided to each resident permits free 5-digit on-campus calling and incoming calls from anywhere. To make off-campus local and long distance calls, residents can use a calling card or can contract with Paetec. Residents may not obtain direct dial long distance service from another carrier.

Shortly after you check in and plug in a telephone, call the voice mail system number for your building and follow the voice prompts to change your password, record your name, and personalize your greeting.

Your initial password is 1-2-3-4-5, but should be changed right away to something you'll remember. Your recorded name is used throughout the voice mail system to identify you when you leave and receive messages. Your personal greeting is like as answering machine greeting; it is heard by callers when you are unable to answer your phone or when your line is busy. Use the 24-hour Telephone Audio Reference Guide (TARG) for instructions on using your telephone and voice mail by dialing x5-6600. If you need further assistance or experience trouble with your telephone set or telephone line, please call the Telecommunication Service Desk by dialing x5-4400.
