GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under supervision work with other students and with permanent
staff completing a variety of specified, scheduled preventive
maintenance tasks. Students in this position will also respond
to work requests from building residents and other staff. |

| GENERAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Participate in preparation activities for the opening
of residence halls.
- Complete repairs and improvements in the Greek Houses
on Fraternity Drive, Ritchie Coliseum, and The Campus Recreation
Center.

| SPECIFIC STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Arrive at work on time and ready to work.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Provide quality work that shows attention to detail.
- Drive state vehicles as needed.
- Operate hand held and stationary power tools.
- Lift and carry heavy materials.
- Inspects, then cleans, repairs and/or replaces as necessary:
light bulbs, light switches, cover plates, duplex receptacles,
light fixtures, and globes/diffusers and smoke detectors.
- Inspects, than adjusts, lubricates, repairs and/or replaces
as necessary: pumps, blowers, exhaust fans, fan coils units,
A/C units, air filters and air compressors.
- Inspect, then may assist in the cleaning, repair and/or
replacement as necessary: faucets, drains, showers, diverter
controls, shower rods, spuds, toilet seats, tissue holders,
toilet partitions, laboratory drains, flush meters, ect.
- Cleans from roofs and window wells, areaways and exterior
floor drains.
- Responds to work requests and inspections from residents
and staff.
- Sweeps, rakes, cleans and removes trash from grounds adjacent
to the residence halls as specified and assigned.
- Completes special tasks and projects as assigned.
- Completes task under assignment to other crews when needed.
- Apply paint.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

| QUALIFICATIONS: |
- Registered student at UMCP (Fall/Spring)
- Familiarity with hand tools desirable.
- A valid driver�s license is required. No exceptions.
- Experience desirable, but not required. We will train
you.

Employees in this position are exposed
to solvents, adhesives and cleaning products, which can
cause irritation to the lungs, eyes or skin when used
improperly. It is important to maintain adequate ventilation.
Training in the safe use of these products will be provided.
Appropriate protection, such as goggles and gloves will
be provided and should be used when necessary.
You will also work with power tools and sharp cutting
tools. Training on the safe use of all tools will be provided,
however, caution should be observed. |
