GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under supervision, will assist trade/level journeymen maintenance
personnel in the completion of their duties.� The areas of work
include: plumbing-both domestic and mechanical systems, electrical,
refrigeration, and all types of HVAC-R systems from heating,
Hydronics, steam, etc. to V.A.V. systems. |

| GENERAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Participate in preparation activities for the opening
of residence halls, campus recreational facilities buildings,
fraternity and sorority buildings.

| SPECIFIC STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: |
| Student workers will perform the
following work assignment: |
- Help transport tools and equipment to job sites.
- Assist mechanics in operating heavy or complex mechanical
equipment such as running plumbing snake equipment.
- Use a variety of hand tools to assist with completion
of job assignments, such as screwdrivers; hammers; wrenches,
etc.
- Help/Assist mechanics responding to emergency dormitory
utility outages.
- Assist other community maintenance personnel as needed
in completion of general maintenance duties: examples changing
light bulbs; rebuilding/repairing minor plumbing fixtures
and equipment and minor window repair work.

| QUALIFICATIONS: |
- Mechanical Operational Engineering majors are encouraged
to apply.
- Familiarity with
hand tools desirable.
- Related experience desirable, but not required (will train).
- Valid drivers license with fewer than six points.

Employees in this
position are exposed to solvents, adhesives and cleaning
products, which can cause irritation to the lungs, eyes
or skin when used improperly. It is important to maintain
adequate ventilation. Training in the safe use of these
products will be provided. Appropriate protection, such
as goggles and gloves will be provided and should be
used when necessary.
You will also work
with power tools and sharp cutting tools. Training on
the safe use of all tools will be provided, however,
caution should be observed.
