GENERAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this position a student will work with other student
workers, both male and female, or under the supervision of either
a full-time State employee or a student Crew Leader.� Students
will inspect, repair, move, and replace all types of furniture
in the residence halls and Resident Life offices.� This is a
manual labor position that involves lifting and carrying heavy
tool, furniture, and material, sweeping floors, emptying trash,
ect. Under sometimes hot and dirty conditions. |

| GENERAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Participate in preparation activities for the opening
of residence halls and apartments.

| SPECIFIC STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Enters resident spaces to repair or replace furniture
including beds, mattresses, venetian blinds, desks, chairs,
and dressers.
- Work with a crew (when halls are empty) to check all furniture
in a hall for needed repairs, etc., to bring the furniture
up to an acceptable level for the next residents.
- Sets up/removes extra furniture for �Overflow� and �Tripling�
programs.
- Helps install new furniture and with proper disposal of
furniture declared as �Surplus�.
- Helps other crews in Residential Facilities as needed
in removing and disposing of trash such as old sofas, rugs,
lumber, etc.
- Assists in vehicle (truck) maintenance by helping to wash,
wax, and inspect the trucks.
- Assists in snow removal during periods of snowfall.
- Install/Replace Bulletin Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for honest, hard working people who will
be on time, don�t mind getting dirty, like working with other
students and are in good physical condition.� You should also
meet the following criteria: |
- Registered student at UMCP (Fall/Spring).
- Good physical condition.
- Previous experience at moving/repairing furniture is desirable,
but not required.
- Familiarity with University residence halls preferred.
- Valid driver�s license preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs. up a set
of stairs.

Students in this position
are exposed to solvents and glue products.� They may
cause irritation to the lungs, eyes or skin when used
improperly. It is important to maintain adequate ventilation.
Training in the safe use of these products will be provided.
Appropriate protection, such as goggles and gloves will
be provided and should be used when necessary.
You will also work
with power tools and sharp cutting tools. Training on
the safe use of all tools will be provided, however,
caution should be observed.
